The Under 13s played host to Downton at Hunts Farm on Saturday on the back of a 4-2 win over Broughton the previous week. Bees started on the front foot and after 12 minutes Louis Bates headed home from a Samuel Payne cross to put the home team into a deserved 1-0 lead. 6 minutes later, new signing Harvey Thomas poked the ball over the line to put the Bees 2-0 up and his 2nd in as many games. The Bees continued to create chances with another new signing Ryan Elmes causing problems up front. The defensive trio of Harry Taylor, Henry Gray and Louis Bates with Isaac Osborne back between the sticks kept Downton at bay with limited shots on goal. Just before half time, Samuel Payne picked up the ball in midfield and looked to have beaten the keeper who was off his line, only to see his shot narrowly go over the cross bar.
With a shuffle around at half time, Downton started off the better side and within 2 minutes had scored, 2-1. The game then came alive with midfield duo Thomas Osborne and Harvey Thomas working tirelessly and the defence clearing the ball well when needed. On 57 minutes, Downton looked to have equalised only to see Isaac Osborne tip the ball over the cross bar with an outstanding save. Moments later, Bees were awarded a penalty only to see the Downton keeper pull off a great save. With both teams creating more chances, the Bees welcomed the full time whistle and a deserved 3 points.
The Under 13s are looking to maintain their 100% start to the league season and play Littleton away on Saturday.
