Braishfield Bees Youth FC supporting the Community

  • by

Following Braishfield Bees Youth FC highly successful 2 day Tournament over the weekend of the 3/4 September, the club had been wracking their brains as to the most appropriate charity / local good cause to make their charitable donation.

Having made a donation of £200 to the 1st Chandlers Ford (Brickfield Lane) Scouts Group who’s help at the event was invaluable, that left £800 from the £1000 pool generated by a combination of 5% of Tournament entry fees and the club’s match funding up to £1000.

Tournament Organiser and Club President – Julian Jones – was quoted as saying “There are plenty of worthy causes in the area all with very compelling stories, but they are also very good at self-funding and also receive levels of funding from within the Community, but we thought this year it was particularly appropriate to support an Organisation that does tremendous work that often goes under the radar and, in the current economic climate more and more Romsey residents may be turning to them for help, and that is why we have selected Romsey Foodbank.

Braishfield Bees Youth FC have a strong financial base underpinned by loyal sponsors and our Annual Tournament which enables us not only have one of the lowest annual subscriptions in the area, but also to enable us to contribute towards the local Community, rather than take from it. We have also established over a number of years a Fund, whereby those families who genuinely cannot afford subs can be assisted.

We hope this donation will help Romsey Foodbank with their excellent work and would urge others to do the same, whether it be food or a monetary donation.”

Ian Bates Chairman added ”this is just the start and we are working with our sponsors to look at ways of delivering an ongoing and meaningful support to the Foodbank”

Romsey Food Bank Manager Eve Ibbott added “It’s been a tough period for many local people and with the increase in energy prices and cost of living, we are expecting to see more people coming into the Foodbank to ask for help. Braishfield Bees Youth FC donation will enable us to continue supporting the most vulnerable this winter – thank you.”
